Description

Code 2501 applies to employers engaged in the mass production of clothing. This includes cutting,
sewing, finishing, labeling, pressing and packaging garments made from various materials like
cotton, wool or velvet, and dressed furs. It also includes the use of linings, interlinings, trimmings,
Velcro, buckles, belts, buttons or fasteners.


This classification also applies to hat manufacturers excluding those making hat frames from
buckram. Hats may be made from textile, fur, felt or straw. Straw hats are braided and sewn, fur or
felt hats are cut, sewn, steamed, blocked and trimmed. Textile hats may be embroidered or screen
printed with designs, artwork or logos.


Manufacturing parachutes and umbrellas are also assigned to this classification.
This classification also applies to employers producing artificial feathers or flowers using glue,
paper, wire, thread, fabrics and synthetic materials. The process involves cutting, rolling and
assembling these materials, with significant handwork.


This classification also covers the production of artificial Christmas trees, wreaths, gift bows, and
human hair products like wigs and toupees, which are woven or sewn. It includes the
manufacturing of hair nets by knitting or weaving.


This classification also applies to the manufacturing, renovating or repairing of bags or sacks
made from textile fabrics such as cotton, burlap or gunny. These bags and sacks are used for
various products like flour, sugar, salt, meat, vegetables, fruit, fertilizer, coal and building
materials. The operations include bale opening, cloth slitting, sheeting, folding, sewing and
turning.
